On January 18, the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors approved proposed plans to develop Bles Park without adopting several modifications that cause concern to ASNV, Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy, and other environmental advocates. ASNV was chiefly concerned about the Board’s approval of a boardwalk that will bisect small wetlands and likely drive off waterfowl that shelter there. ASNV also expressed opposition to the conversion of an area that currently contains numerous wildflowers and other native plants into turf grass. We can’t prevail on every issue that we take up, but we will continue to advocate for protection of birds, other wildlife, and the environment in Northern Virginia.
