ASNV Opposes TNR Bill

The House of Delegates Agriculture, Chesapeake and Natural Resources Committee postponed consideration until 2021 of l H.B. 1727, a bill to legalize the operation of cat trap, neuter and return programs, programs under which people release unowned cats into the environment.  Under current laws against animal cruelty, as made clear in a 2013 advisory opinion from the Virginia Attorney General, releasing a cat into the wild is an illegal abandonment.  ASNV will continue to promote keeping cats indoors.
