Fungi diversity, Matt Cohen

Join us for Matt Cohen’s talk about wild mushrooms. In this introduction to the world of mushrooms, you'll learn about their ecological roles and major groups and what traits to look for to identify a mushroom. Matt will also identify some local deadly poisonous mushrooms and some local edible mushrooms.

Matt Cohen is an outdoor enthusiast and naturalist based in Silver Spring with a particular interest in mushrooms, plants, and birds. Through his business, Matt's Habitats, he leads frequent nature walks focusing on identification of mushrooms and plants as well as their edibility. Matt has been a member of the local mushroom club, the Mycological Association of Washington, since 2005 and currently serves as treasurer.
