This program is part of our Stretch Our Parks initiative, in partnership with Occoquan Bay NWR.
Occoquan Bay NWR offers a diversity of habitats for wintering waterfowl, field, forest, and edge birds.
We will meet up at the OBNWR Visitor Center parking lot.
Trails are generally wide, flat, and crushed gravel but may be muddy.
Layered clothing recommended.
Newer and seasoned birders welcome.
If you have binoculars, please bring them with you.
Your birding guide is Ruth Lane, an experienced local birder and certified Virginia Master Naturalist. Joining Ruth as co-leaders are Ryan Weber, a seasoned young birder from Northern Virginia, and Evan Pannkuk, an Assistant Professor at Georgetown University who specializes in wildlife diseases and is also an avid birder.
If you have binoculars, bring them with you.
