We are pleased to announce the winner of this week’s Monday Nature Mystery, Fred Siskind!

Congratulations to Fred for correctly identifying the Eastern Comma butterfly, Polygonia comma. According to Butterflies and Moths of North America, these butterflies eat rotting fruit and tree sap and lay eggs on elm and nettle trees. Their wingspan is 1 3/4 - 2 1/2 inches.
