Learn how to identify warblers during fall migration!
Fall bird migration is almost upon us! Bill Young, who taught ASNV’s four-session course about warblers this past spring, is back with a helpful 90-minute class about fall warblers. The peak time to see fall warblers is from the second week in September through the first week in October. Some warbler species have similar plumage in the fall and spring, while others look very different. Join us for Bill’s review of the species you could see migrating through Northern Virginia. The program will conclude with a quiz so you will know which species you need to study before hitting the trails.
This program will be recorded and the video will be shared with registrants so you can re-watch the program as needed.
Bill Young is co-creator of the Nature in Monticello Park website, which describes the natural history of Monticello Park in Alexandria, VA, a warbler hotspot during migration. Bill is the author of the book The Fascination of Birds: From the Albatross to the Yellowthroat. He creates nature videos, and his YouTube channel has had 850,000 views. He was featured in a July 5 Washington Post article about Monticello Park’s designation as a Community Forest.
