Join NOVA Parks Roving Naturalist Matt Felperin along with folks from Audubon Society of Northern Virginia and Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy in a casual and educational bird walk at Gilbert’s Corner Regional Park in Aldie, VA. Learn more about this underbirded mixed forest and meadow habitat park which hosts a diverse range of resident and migratory bird species, including breeding Prairie Warblers in the spring and summer.

For this walk, we can expect to spot a variety of forest birds such as Hermit Thrush, kinglets, woodpeckers, wrens, and towhees in addition to raptors and sparrows such as the Red-tailed Hawk and Field Sparrow. November signals the end of fall migration, but is a great time to find rare and infrequent species.

Expect to walk no more than 2 miles on relatively flat grassy paths as we comb through the park in search for as many species as we can find.

All ages and skill levels are encouraged to join us, and those with younger children can feel free to peel off early if needed.

If you have binoculars, please bring them with you. We will have limited pairs available to borrow for those without binoculars

Registration is recommended but not required. Registrants will get a reminder about the walk and will be notified via email if the walk is cancelled.

Please email mfelperin@nvrpa.org with any questions. Looking forward to seeing you there!
